Munition Press
Phoenix Hydraulic Presses completed the design and manufacture of a two press station to manufacture burster wells.
Each press will force fit the burster well into the munition for the purpose of sealing the material inside the munition body.
The specially designed C frame presses featured upper and lower cylinders, force and position monitors, stainless steel cylinder rods, local control to communicate with central control. Each press had force and position monitors which included a communication link to the fill station to a fill system so that the fill could be adjusted as necessary.
A unique feature of the press was the upper cylinder which extends downward at a very low force. The cylinder contacts and centers work and then establish a zero position. The press dwells and then inserts the part at a preset force. The dwell time and force a set by a PanelView controller.
