20 Ton Pressing C-Frame

Our customer, a manufacturer of out board motors, asked us to provide a system to press swivel pins into steering arms for several different models. To accomplish the goals set out for this program we provided a 20 Ton C Frame Press with a 2 post guided tool plate with auto lube for the bushings.

The diagnostics for the press included a force monitoring system to monitor peak and valley pressures during the pressing process. An Allen Bradley PanelView 500 with operator interface allowed the operator to choose a stored recipe which automatically sets pressure and position. The diagnostics also included a part presence verification/alarm system designed to validate the correct part before the press cycled. QC verification was used to measure the proper insertion of the part.

Tooling consisted of two upper and four lower fixtures featuring quick change sub plates to reduce set-up time.
