Electric Controls – Sequence of Operations

Dual Sensitive Pressure Control (SPC)

A single control lever for the right hand and a pushbutton for the left hand (no-tie-down) provide safety and exceptional pressure selectivity and permit the operator to handle the work piece with the ram in a selected holding position with one or both hands removed from the controls.

Operation:

  1. While the operator holds the pushbutton with the left hand and simultaneously moves the control lever downward, the ram will advance until it contacts the work. At this phase of the cycle, the hydraulic system idles at virtually zero pressure.
  2. If the operator continues to hold the left hand button, the ram will return if the control lever is raised. Advance motion can be resumed from any position by momentarily releasing both the pushbutton and advancing the control lever (no-tie-down) (non-repeat).
  3. Further downward movement of the control lever with the ram in contact with the work piece causes pressure to be exerted by the press in proportion to the amount of the movement of the lever up to the full capacity of the press.
  4. If the operator releases the left hand button, motion of the ram will stop. The ram will remain in position with both hands removed from the controls.
  5. Holding the left hand button only will return the ram to the adjustable return limit switch position. The ram can be “jogged” to the upper position by alternately holding and releasing the pushbutton.
  6. If at any time it is desired to apply repetitive uniform pressure, a stop is provided to limit travel of the control lever.
  7. The operator has complete control over ram speed and pressure during the advance stroke.

Sequence of Operation

PB-2 – Pressure Reversal, Pressure Shift Differential

Dual Buttons, when pressed and held advance the ram until the work is contacted and automatically reverse it when a pre-set pressure is reached.

Operation:

Initiate buttons simultaneously (no-tie-down) ram advances. Release buttons, ram returns. Initiate and hold buttons, ram continues to advance until the work is contacted and a low pressure builds up, shifting the ram from Advance to press speed. The ram instantaneously builds up pressure until the applied force reaches the pre-set pressure and causes the ram to automatically return (pressure reversal). Buttons must be released to start a new cycle (non-repeat).

PB-2 – Pressure Reversal, Position Shift Differential with Limit Switch

Dual buttons, when pressed and held advance the ram until a pre-positioned limit switch is contacted shifting the ram from advance to press speed. The ram continues to advance until the work is contacted and automatically reverse it when the pre-set pressure is reached.

Operation:

Initiate buttons simultaneously (no-tie-down) ram advances. Release buttons, ram returns. Initiate and hold buttons, ram advances to an adjustable limit switch and shifts from advance to press speed.  When the ram contacts the work and builds up to a pre-set pressure the ram reverses automatically (pressure reverse). Dual buttons must be released to start a new cycle (non-repeat).

PB-4 – Position Reversal, Position Shift Differential

Dual buttons, when pressed and held, advance the ram until a pre-positioned limit switch is contacted shifting the ram from advance to press speed. The ram continues to advance until a pre-positioned limit switch is contacted, causing the ram to reverse automatically.

Operation:

Initiate buttons simultaneously (no-tie-down) ram advances. Release buttons, ram returns. Initiate and hold buttons the ram advances until a pre-positioned adjustable limit switch is contacted shifting the ream from advance to press speed. The ram continues to advance until a pre-positioned adjustable limit switch is contacted, returning the ram automatically (distance reversal). Buttons must be released to start a new cycle (non-repeat).

PB-4 – Position reversal, Pressure Shift Differential

Dual buttons, when pressed and held, advance the ram until a pre-positioned adjustable limit switch is contacted, causing the ram to reverse automatically.

Dual buttons, when pressed and held, advance the ram until a pre-positioned limit switch is contacted shifting the ram from advance to press speed. The ram continues to advance until it builds up to a pre-set pressure or until it activates an adjustable limit switch, causing it to reverse automatically.

Operation:

Initiate buttons simultaneously (no-tie-down) ram advances. Release buttons, ram returns. Initiate and hold buttons, the ream advances until a pre-positioned adjustable limit switch is contacted shifting the ram from advance to press speed. The ram continues to advance until the work is contacted an instantaneously builds up pressure until the applied force reaches the pre-set pressure and causes the ram to automatically return (pressure reversal) OR until a pre-positioned adjustable limit switch is contacted, returning the ram automatically (distance reversal). Buttons must be released to start a new cycle (non-repeat).
